Yes — and we’ll time the tour around it. The Sanctuary holds Mass continuously throughout the day in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, and Polish at scheduled times. Tell us your preferred Mass time and language at booking and we’ll plan pickup so you arrive 30 minutes early. The Rosary is prayed daily at 6:30pm at the Chapel of the Apparitions, which can be added if you’d prefer an evening visit.

The 13th of every month commemorates the monthly apparitions. May 13 and October 13 (the first and last appearances in 1917) are the two largest annual pilgrimages, drawing 500,000+ people each. If you want the candlelight procession and full-pilgrimage atmosphere, plan for these dates (book the tour 2-3 months ahead). If you want quiet contemplation and easy parking, avoid the 13th of any month. Our driver-guides can advise the right balance for your trip.

Fátima yes, Óbidos partially. The Sanctuary of Fátima is fully wheelchair-accessible — flat paved esplanade, accessible restrooms, and dedicated entry paths to both basilicas and the Chapel of the Apparitions. Our V-Class fits a folding wheelchair. Óbidos is challenging — the old town is entirely cobblestones and sloped streets, and the castle walls have no handrails. For mobility-limited guests, we recommend the Fátima visit + a flat-access café stop in Óbidos’s main square rather than the full wall walk. We adapt without losing the day.

Coimbra (where Sister Lúcia lived as a Carmelite nun for 56 years) is 90 minutes north of Fátima and makes a wonderful extended pilgrimage day. Adding Coimbra extends the tour to about 11 hours and costs €580 (E-Class). Other extensions include the Convento de Cristo at Tomar (Knights Templar headquarters, UNESCO-listed), the Monastery of Alcobaça (a Cistercian masterpiece with the tombs of Pedro and Inês), and the walled castle of Ourém. Custom multi-religious-site itineraries are quoted flat-rate.

Less than Sintra, more than a transfer. Fátima is mostly flat and open — about 1-2 km of walking on smooth surfaces. Óbidos involves cobblestones (the entire old town is paved with them) and the optional 1.5km castle wall walk has some unevenness and no guardrails in places. Most guests average 5-6 km of walking total across the day. For knees-sensitive or older travelers, we can substitute café time for the wall walk without losing the experience.

Yes — some guests prefer this order, especially those wanting to attend the 6:30pm Rosary at the Chapel of the Apparitions. The flow becomes: 8am Lisbon pickup → 9:30am Óbidos → lunch en route → 2pm Fátima → evening Rosary → 9pm return. This makes for a slightly later day but adds the candlelit evening prayer experience which many pilgrims describe as the most powerful moment of their visit.

Yes — they’re completely different experiences. Sintra is 19th-century romantic palaces in misty hills. Óbidos is a 12th-century intact walled medieval town with whitewashed houses and bougainvillea. Sintra is about palaces and grand architecture; Óbidos is about cobbled lanes, ginjinha cups, and the rampart walk. Most returning visitors to Portugal say Óbidos was a quiet favorite. If you’ve already done Sintra, consider this tour particularly — the Fátima & Óbidos pairing is the natural counterpoint.
